HIRAX wearing denim and leather... how 80's.  We had just returned from a successful trip to San Francisco.  We played with Exodus and Possessed.  Family and friends for life.

My first meeting with DRI.  I had heard of them, they had heard of us...we've been friends ever since.  This same day, they gave me the demos to their record, "Dealing With It" ...The rest is history.

This is the insert that came with the first HIRAX album, "Raging Violence."

An article from Cream Magazine 1986.

The first Bay Area shows flyer, 1985.

A concert goer comments on early HIRAX live shows:

"When I think back to my gig-frequenting days back in the middle and late 1980's, the images that most stand out in my mind are those I got at HIRAX shows.  No where did you find a more fitful, violent mosh pit than at gigs where this Los Angeles foursome use to play.  Billed as 'L.A.'s fastest band' at one time, HIRAX hit pay dirt in the latter part of 1984 and into 1985 with demo tapes that circumnavigated the globe and made HIRAX a respected name in the underground.  I'd always heard the stories of their live shows and when I finally saw them, they lived up to every word.  You had to be a little more than daring to venture into the whirling pits that erupted once the band started thrashing away."

The line up that recorded "Hate, Fear & Power" - Me, Eric Brecht ex-DRI drummer, Gary & Scott.

Me and James from Metallica. Back when he had a 'youthful' look.

Me drunk, Lars girly-man in a tough-ass band. In front of the Metallica House, in Frisco.

This is from an issue of Rip that featured HIRAX and Metallica when they had Cliff Burton they were the deadliest metal machine on earth. I've seen a hell of a lot of bands but they're still one of the best.

Me wearing a TANK shirt and Ron McGoveny the original Metallica bassist, before Cliff Burton. After this we formed a band called Phantasm, there's a hard to find demo out there, also featured Gene Hoagland who went on to Dark Angel,  Death, and Testament.

This is the first publicity picture ever taken of HIRAX from our first trip to Monterey, CA.  If my memory is not too blurred...it was 1984, we played at the Monterey Music Hall with Death Angel opening...us sandwiched in between Slayer.

Having a ball...at Fender's Ballroom...Long Beach, CA.
